Hammer Museum's free monthly family movies: Pre-Halloween Free Family Movies: October 31 at 11am - Abbot and Costello meet Frankenstein and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow AND Black Stallion on November 14 at 11am

Don't miss this Sunday's fun movies at the Hammer Museum on Wilshire/Westwood.
We usually go at 10am for easy parking and play ping-pong on the second floor.
Hope to see some of you there!

The next free Family Movie from the UCLA archives is The Black Stallion on Sunday, November 14, at 11am.  This 1979 color movie is based on "Walter Farley’s classic novel about a boy and a majestic stallion who meet during an ocean voyage and bond while stranded on a picturesque desert island."

I have no connection with this company except for receiving their free newsletter.  I received this email offering their free e-book about homophones (normally $27.95) with any amount purchase .. the minimum I can find to buy is a $5.95 letter magnet tiles which can be used to help teach spelling.  Please note that this offer ends on November 1st, Monday if you are interested.  I am just helping to spread the word.

*** here's the email about the free ebook with any amount purchase - type in the code ****

First the bad news...We are located in the upper Midwest, and severe storms on Tuesday morning left us without power. Due to the power outage, orders that were placed this week were delayed for a few days. We are told that we should have power restored this weekend, and if all goes according to plan, we will ship all orders on Monday via USPS Priority Mail.

Now for the good news...To thank everyone for their patience this week, we want to give you a free gift that you can use right away, without having to wait for shipment. When you place any order, no matter how small, we'll give you the All About Homophones book for free, and you can download it immediately. This popular e-book sells for $27.95 on our website, but today it won't cost you a cent!

Here's how to claim your free book with any purchase:
  1. Add any product(s) to your cart.
  2. Do not add the All About Homophones e-book to your cart quite yet.
  3. In the upper left corner of the cart, you'll see a box that says "Special Code." Type in these three letters, all in capital letters: AAH. Then click the "Apply" button.
  4. The free All About Homophones ebook will appear just above where you enter your shipping information. Click the orange "Add to Cart" button.

Welcome to Room 31 - This is Your Parent Center

Room 31 is OUR Parent Center.  It is in the last bungalow building on the right as you face the playground.

It is a work in progress.  What would you like to see in it?

Please come to visit after Friday's Halloween Parade and Costume Contest on Friday, October 29, 2010.

It is just beginning to be furnished ... we have a donated nice sofa couch. We have tables and chairs.  White boards on the wall.

Our booster club, WestEnd, had a great turnout on our first morning meeting.  The CEAC and ELAC committees will also be meeting in the parent center on Friday November 5.  Our parent center will be having our first parenting seminar here on Monday November 1 after our November School Assembly.  More details later.

Claudia Navarrete is our Westminster ES community representative and she will be able to open the Center from 8.30am to 10.30am after she closes the gate at cafeteria drop-off.   I am KF, parent volunteer, and will help organize events at the Parent Center and maintain this blog which will be linked to the parent center page on our school website.  I can be reached at pangkf@gmail.com.
